What milk do you put in your tea or coffee? How often have you seen an advert for goat’s milk?

Being a severe asthmatic as a child our physician suggested to my parents that I should drink goat’s milk instead of cow’s milk.

Children given goats milk surpass children given cow’s milk for weight gain, skeletal mineralisation and stature, not to mention bone density, vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and haemoglobin concentrations.

For years physicians and nutritionists have known the superior health characteristics of goat milk and goat milk products.

Although the nutrient content of goat milk is slightly less than cow milk it makes up for this by being more digestible purely because the fat molecules are 1/5th the size of those from cow milk therefore making it easier to tolerate with compromised digestive systems.

72% of the milk used throughout the world is from goats. It is 1/3 richer than cow’s milk but more nourishing and easier to digest.

Goat’s milk is higher in calcium, vitamin A, and potassium and copper that you will find in cows milk. It contains the same amount of iron and a lower amount of folic acid.

The milk from the goat contains many carrier proteins that help nutrients like iron and folic acid cross the intestinal wall. You may wonder the importance of these which were recognised around 30 years ago, yet nutritionists and doctors are not aware of their existence. One reason could be that the carrier proteins are destroyed during pasteurisation. Nevertheless Mother Nature has included these proteins in raw milk to assure that a growing infant has a proper mineral nutrition. Studies have shown goat milk promotes higher bone density than cow milk.

Goat milk is far more suited for human consumption because it is non allergenic and its nutrients are more readily accessible. Other facts such as it having more acid buffering capacity than cows milk, soy infant formula and non prescription antacid drugs.

Furthermore goat’s milk has a higher content of short and medium fatty acids such as capric and caprylic which are known to inhibit Candida infections.

Goat’s milk does not form phlegm and is therefore better tolerated by asthmatics and those with allergies. It has the same alkaline reaction to mother’s milk. Whereas, cow milk an acid reaction!

Cholesterol as we are all aware is essential to the health of the myelin sheaths “white matter” of the nerves in the brain. In goat’s milk cholesterol is more highly evolved than in cow’s milk, therefore making it more available for absorption to the brain and body. http://www.ninabagnallsthoughts.com
